Gordon Russell Museum

Description

The Gordon Russell Design Museum has a friendly and supportive team of about 20 volunteers with a wide range of experience and interests. At present we are looking for Front of House volunteers, who welcome visitors to the Museum and introduce them to the Gordon Russell story, issue tickets and process sales in our Museum shop. The Museum’s opening hours are 10am-4pm, Tuesday-Sunday, and the day is divided into two shifts: 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm. There is no minimum commitment: some volunteers come in on regular days each week whilst others come on an occasional basis.

Volunteers can join the Museum individually or with a friend, and no previous experience of working in a museum is necessary.  We are looking for people from any background who are enthusiastic, friendly and who are good communicators, or who want to work on their communication skills.

We provide full and ongoing training, and we offer our volunteers a 10% discount in the Museum shop, plus free places at the Museum’s regular talks and free membership of our Friends scheme. We also pay our volunteers’ travel expenses.

We also have a web page which explains more about how volunteering at the Museum works, and gives more detail about the different roles available: https://www.gordonrusselldesignmuseum.org/how-to-help/volunteering/

To find out more, please e-mail Helen (info@gordonrusselldesignmuseum.org), call us on 01386 854695 or pop in to the Museum for a chat. At the moment we are particularly seeking help at weekends, although we do also have weekday opportunities available.
