Battle Of Evesham

The Battle of Evesham is Europe’s largest c13th battle re-enactment festival, and is continuing to grow each year, bringing much needed footfall and revenue into the south-east of Worcestershire. The event is free to enter, so families of any means can enjoy a weekend of colourful educational entertainment.

In 2022 the Battle of Evesham festival attracted an estimated 35,000 visitors, even in last year’s rain 25,000 travelled to Evesham to enjoy a weekend of medieval mayhem.

Visitors travel from all over the world to watch the 700 re-enactors demonstrate not only full battles, with 20 mounted Knights on their war horses, but perform medieval crafts, cooking and medicine. Or join in with the medieval dancing and enjoy minstrels performing on period instruments. The festival site is in the heart of Evesham, stretching along 1.5 miles of River Avon Meadow.

Our volunteers, the ‘Battle Crew’ are a mix of young and experienced people, Some come along to the event for a couple of hours to help man the donations stand, other join in with the many tasks and activities throughout the year – all help is welcome. As a thank you the Battle of Evesham Committee host ‘Volunteer Socials’ several times a year, treating those who give up their time (no matter how much) to a free buffet and entertainment. We also join in with other community events as the battle Crew in the region, or at other historic themed events at Castles etc, making some great friends along the way.
